2012 New Year’s Resolutions-Suggestions from a CPA

2012 New Year’s Resolutions
(Suggestions from a CPA)
I resolve to:
1.    Volunteer at local charitable organizations.  Clean the attic, basement, and closets in order to gather items to donate to charity. Make sure to keep a detailed list of these items!
2.    Establish financial goals.  Don’t wait to set up professional appointments with CPAs, attorneys or financial planners.
3.    Keep receipts for tax deductions.  Did you know a check or credit card is often not enough for the IRS?
4.    Keep business and tax records organized by files, software, etc.  Efficiency is the order of the New Year!
5.    Keep a mileage log of business (55.5 cents), medical (23 cents) and charitable (14 cents) miles. *
*Pick up a mileage log at our office, available the 2nd week of January, 2012. These rates are as of January 1, 2012.
** McAuley & Crandall, PA is available for any financial or tax savings questions you may have.  We are located at 7200 W. 132nd St, Suite 160 Overland Park, KS  66213 or call (913) 239-9130.
Happy New Year!
